No matter where you’re starting from, change and growth are possible.
I’ve helped thousands of people, and I can help you, too.
Do you struggle with depression and/or anxiety?
Do you feel generally stressed out, tense, and irritable?
Does your inner voice tell you, “I’m not good enough. I can’t do it?”
Do you feel stuck, and have trouble making decisions?
Do you hold yourself back from taking risks because you're afraid you'll fail?
Do you avoid pursuing your goals and dreams because of fear?
Do you worry much of the time?
You're not alone.
Everyone struggles from time to time. It's part of being human. Sometimes, you need an expert to help guide you through your difficulties to a different place:
A place with less worry, anxiety, and depression.
A place where you have clarity about your values, goals, and what’s really important.
A place where you feel better about yourself.
A place of more ease and joy.
A place where shame takes a backseat to courage.
Welcome, I’m Dr. Barbara Markway
I'm so glad you're here! I'm a licensed psychologist in St. Louis with over twenty years of experience helping people with anxiety, depression, and general confidence and adjustment issues. There's nothing more satisfying than helping people learn to believe in themselves and to live their best life with greater ease and fulfillment. I've written three books on social anxiety, in addition to my newest release, The Self-Confidence Workbook: A Guide to Overcoming Self-Doubt and Improving Self-Esteem.
My goal as a psychologist is to provide a safe and compassionate place where counseling clients from all over St. Louis can get encouragement and support as they navigate through the challenges of life. No matter what you’re going through, whether depression or anxiety or a life transition, there is hope.
My office is conveniently located in the St. Louis suburb of Kirkwood, Missouri, close to major highways with easy parking. I offer late afternoon, early evening, and Saturday appointments. My clients find me warm, down-to-earth, direct and practical. I use evidence-based therapies (which means they’ve been proven to work) such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness, but I always seek your input along the way.
Please contact me to make an appointment.
